Periodical Databases

Periodical databases are the online sources for finding articles from journals, newspapers, and magazines. Many, but not all, of the articles are found in full text format. Some articles may include abstracts (summaries) of the article's contents. In addition to general databases Cuesta also has a literature database.

Periodical databases are accessible from the Cuesta library home page. Because online databases do not have good coverage of articles written before the 1990's, The library also has print indexes. These indexes, such as the Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature, are excellent resources for researching older materials. For example, the New York Times print index goes back to 1851!
