Denise K. Fourie is an instructor of Library/Information Technology at Cuesta College. She has over 25 years of varied experience in the library field including serving as a reference librarian in public and academic libraries, a consultant, a writer, and an instructor. She received her B. A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Masters in Library Science (M. L. S.) from the University of Southern California.

She currently teaches the following courses at Cuesta:

  • LIBT 105: Library/Information Center Collections
  • LIBT 108: Library Supervisory Skills
  • LIBT 109: Library Public Services

Ms. Fourie has presented at annual conferences including the California Library Association conference, Library/Learning Resources Association, and Internet Librarian as well as at many regional workshops. Along with Dr. David Dowell, Ms. Fourie is the author of a textbook for Libraries Unlimited Press entitled Libraries in the Information Age: An Introduction and Career Exploration, now in a new second edition. Ms. Fourie also manages Library Concepts, a consulting firm working with government, school, university and business clients on library, archival, and information-related projects.

Denise enjoys living on the Central Coast where she and her husband like to birdwatch, browse antique stores for California Pottery, and watch art films at the Palm Theater. Her current favorite mystery authors are Robert Crais, Denise Hamilton, Cara Black and Laura Childs. She keeps track of some of her favorite books on
